Words and pictures...
I write and illustrate in a sunny studio in Fremantle with two naughty cats. I work mainly in gouache, relishing the richness of colour and fine detail it allows. Myths and fairytales fascinate me, and a touch of the fantastic can be found in most of my paintings. I have worked in communities across Western Australia engaging young people and teachers of all ages in storytelling, art and book making workshops.
I love working with children of all ages to play with stories in all their forms – from extraordinary flights of fancy to the quiet and familiar. I enjoy using various mediums to help children make stories grow and to give value to their experiences of the world. In 2015 I am working on two incredible Artist In Residence Projects. The first project is creating a graphic novel with the regugee and asylum seeker students at Aranmore College. The second is a mixed media portraiture and family identity project with the students at Hammond Park Primary.
My work has appeared in books, on posters, in exhibitions and even on shoes. I am currently working on a picture book about dressing up and making good art.
